Met Gala: 6 Show-Stopping Designs from 2022

At Eagle and Pearl, we always have our eagle eye on the drama of decadence and design that is the Met Gala. This star-studded event is often dripping with designer diamonds and jewels, shaping trends in the industry for many months to come. Here, we take a look at some of the most iconic and influential looks from this year’s event, along with a little background on the ball itself.

Met Gala Theme 2022

The theme for this year’s Met Gala was ‘Gilded Glamour,’ which led to an enchanting explosion of imaginative jewelry designs on the exclusive red carpet. In many cases, adornments were equally as important as attire, accessorizing each look with just the right amount of eye-catching sparkle.

A-listers and celebrities demonstrated that more certainly is more when it comes to statement precious gems and pieces, while some even challenged the parameters of typical jewelry placement and profile.

All that Gilded Glamour certainly was gold for Amber Valletta, who dazzled in Buccellati jewels to match a glimmering vintage Azzaro gown. She went bold for gold with a chunky choker-style necklace, thick studded bangles, and retro-inspired rings.

In a controversial turn of events, Cartier’s newest ambassador, Emma Chamberlain, was seen sporting a diamond choker that looked remarkably similar to an heirloom Cartier piece once commissioned by Indian royalty.

The necklace in question was reportedly stolen in 1948, and then later recovered in London in 1982, missing some of its precious stones. There has been no comment from Cartier on whether Chamberlain's choker was a replica or the real deal.

The Met Gala’s much-loved host demonstrated a flair for timeless versatility as she wore a yellow and white S.J.Philips diamond necklace as a tiara. Vogue’s editor-in-chief embraced her role as fashion royalty by pairing her crown with an extravagant necklace, thought to have been created by Oscar Massin in the late 19th century.

At Eagle and Pearl, we stay on top of dazzling designer jewelry trends so that you don’t have to. Each of our pieces is hand-selected for style and quality craftsmanship, with every sophisticated statement piece sure to make you feel like a million dollars.
